Giving objects to the collection
Most of the objects in our collection have been donated by members of the public. We are deeply grateful to those who have entrusted us with their personal treasures and important artefacts. However, we have to be very selective about the items we accept, and only take those that meet the criteria set out in our official Collections Policy.
At present, we are not accepting new object donations. Over the next few years, our focus is on improving storage facilities for the collection. You can find out more about this work in our ongoing What’s in Store? project.
Collecting Policy: Newton Abbot Museum collects objects that reflect the history of Newton Abbot and its local environs, including objects linked to the GWR and the influence the railways had on the town and the people of Newton Abbot.

Making a monetary donation
We welcome both small and large financial donations. If you’re visiting the museum, there is a donation box at the Welcome Desk for cash contributions, and a card-enabled Donation Station for contactless payments.
If you’d like to make a donation online, you can do so through our donation platform:
Thinking about leaving a gift in your will, or sending a cheque? Please get in touch with us and we’ll be happy to guide you through the process.
All donations go into the Newton Abbot Museum Support Fund and are used solely for the care, interpretation and celebration of the town’s history – helping to preserve it for generations to come.

Donating your time
One of the most valuable contributions you can make is your time. Every year, our dedicated volunteers contribute thousands of hours to help the museum thrive. If you’re interested in joining the team, you can find out more about volunteering.
